I recently updated my pictures of the ruins of an abandoned house near where I live in Leesburg, VA. I thought the property was going to be developed, but it turns out the construction there was for the new Dominion Power lines they're putting in. Pictures are at: www.xydexx.com/modernruins/sycolin.htm

This looks like a home or two around my area... However, there are more that could still be lived in, but are left to just rot and fall into disrepair... It is shameful actually.... I will have to go out and take pictures of these homes to share with everyone... I have always been a "nosey nelly" as my dad called me... I am so glad that I have found this group that shares my interests!
Blessings,
Jenny

You have this one as being on Sycolin Road but it looks very similar to one I see every day when I come home from work. The one I am referring to is right over near the Outlet mall. You can see it when at the Cardinal Park Drive traffic light heading into town on 7 West, just before the bypass exits. I also noticed a construction crane there a couple years ago so curious if this is the same house. The house caught fire a few years ago as well, which is when one of the walls fell in. I remember thinking they would just tear it down when all the firetrucks were out there, but they just put out the fire and left it standing. If it's not the same house, I actually have planned to go take some pictures this summer when it warms up as the house always fascinates me. There's another one further down 7 near the hotel that's in much better shape that I plan to take pictures of as well. Below is a link on Google maps to the one I'm referring to. Hard to see because of all the trees. tinyurl.com/y2aglvhg
